BP's BPX Energy business (formerly known as the Lower 48) operates across a vast US geography, from Texas north through the Rocky Mountains. In 2018, BP completed a $10.5 billion acquisition of BHP's world-class unconventional oil and gas assets in the Permian-Delaware basin in Texas, along with two premium positions in the Eagle Ford and Haynesville basins in Texas and Louisiana. These assets currently produce 190,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, of which about 45 percent are liquid hydrocarbons. The deal represents BP’s largest purchase since buying ARCO in 1999. It is a transformational acquisition for our BPX Energy business which gives the BPX Energy team access to some of the best acreage in some of the best basins in the onshore U.S.

In BPX Energy’s Technology team, the Functions program leader is in overall, end-to-end charge of the Functions team’s technologies program, from shaping the strategy, approach to achieve the desired outcomes through to delivery. The position involves:• Leads and manages innovation and change strategy with the Functions group • Develops and implements a common framework for change that aligns with the Functions group initiatives• Evaluates and execute opportunities for re-engineering business processes through continuous improvement and optimization• Coordinates projects and resource management within the program across multiple specialties and service lines• Communicates effectively with numerous stakeholders and sponsor a solid communication plan• Meets the budgets and ensure program financial management• Portfolio management of a range of business change activities, projects, small changes and solution research and development• Leads subject matter expertise and business line liaison for Functions teams• Oversees the development and delivery of technology and process solutions for our shared Functions • Close collaboration with IT Operations to deliver technology solutions into support and maintenance teams• Manages a team of individual contributors across multiple disciplines for premier business outcomes

Develops and manages resource plans and collaborates with Functions’ professionals to participate in project and product evolution as needed
Leads the development of the overall approach for the program, its major time frames and the definition of its major deliverables to address and meet the desired goals and outcomes.
Partners with the executive sponsors to communicate program goals, objectives and potential outcomes.
Leads regular interactions with the executive sponsors to inform, alert, negotiate and maintain a continuing good relationship and shared vision for the program outcome.
Establishes and ensures appropriate governance functions for the program in accordance with enterprise policies, practices and on behalf of the executive sponsors or senior responsible owners.
Directs the creation and maintenance of the required program documentation and artifacts.
Develops and controls the program budget across many IT Service Lines and manages expenditure within agreed spending plans.
Ensures and balances the availability of the required skills and competencies across project teams within the program.
Leads reviews with the executive sponsor and stakeholders to identify organic or specific program needs and changes and directs the development of appropriate approaches to address.
Leads the development and maintenance of stakeholder mapping, communications and reporting.
Acts as an advisor and builds and maintains relationships across the wider stakeholder community.
Leads the oversight of program projects’ execution, their progress compared with the plan and the production of agreed deliverables.
Monitors and coordinates dependencies across the projects in the program and resolves conflicts.
Directs or approves the establishment of a framework or guidelines for the use of contractors and professional service providers and determines their use across the program.
Supports and facilitates agenda setting for program meetings.
Manages vendor and consultant augmentation of internal technology teams in service of program outcomes, balancing costs to value outcomes and budget.
Ability to lead the development of Finance, Supply Chain, Land, Safety and shared functions solutions and aid the leaders of those business areas in development of strategic change
Ability to advise Functions’ teams & stakeholders if demand is aligned or not with technology vision for the Functions line of business
