Role synopsis:

The L48 Project Manager is accountable for execution of IT projects within the BP US Onshore Lower 48 IT Department. This role requires an understanding of connectivity and networking between the field, cloud, data centers and offices. Successful candidates must display mastery of how IT projects empower the enterprise through effective planning, execution and handover to support.

Individual must excel at collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of managers, engineers, technicians and analysts across active projects. This role will oversee multiple projects at any given time and relay status to IT PMO management, Business Service Lines and IT leadership.

Key accountabilities:

  • Plan and adjust resource availability to meet specific projects

  • Manage suppliers and vendors necessary for project execution

  • Provide program updates to IT and business leadership

  • Track established KPIs to assess project effectiveness

  • Escalate risks and concerns to IT PMO Manager

  • Engage application, digital security and support teams during project execution

  • Assess success or failure of completed projects to improve program framework

  • Create and maintain program management related documentation

  • Work directly with geographically disperse workforce to understand and continuously evaluate the organization’s workflow, using metrics to identify optimization opportunities

  • Ensure initiatives are implemented as efficiently as possible, and results are clearly communicated to leadership and all key stakeholders

Essential Education:

  • Minimum requirement of four-year college degree

  • Capability to draw conclusions from measured data and discuss with both technical and non-technical individuals to recommend actions

  • Desire to continually learn outside of a classroom environment, and successfully apply learning

  • Demonstrated willingness to both teach others and learn new techniques

In 2015, the L48 Onshore is being established as a separate business within BP’s Upstream to manage its onshore oil and gas assets across the US onshore. This effort is being undertaken to improve competitiveness and help L48 remain at the forefront of innovation and development of technologies for unconventional resources.

Essential experience and job requirements:
