SM-ENERGY Automation Specialist in CATARINA, Texas

Schedule: 7 days on/7 days off. Assists professionals in the field with operations specialist duties per role specific knowledge. Responsible for oil and gas well operations, well testing, operating and maintaining field equipment and facilities. Responsible for surveillance of general field operations and maintenance of various databases regarding production operations. May monitor or lead the work of lower level operations specialists. Provides operational assistance to personnel based on specialty. Some duties may include, but not limited to, calibration of equipment, troubleshooting, understanding of POC and Well Analyzer with ability to interpret results. Essential Roles and Responsibilities: Responsible for surveillance of field operations and maintenance of various databases regarding production operations Proficient ability to provide basic technical and mechanical assistance to production operations personnel Analyze various tickets, work orders, records, and other administrative reports to manage trends and to support recommendations Proficient understanding of oil and gas flow operations and relative equipment Train mentor and coach less experienced employees Conduct job safety analysis. Attend integrated solutions meetings and interact with engineers Manage and support all areas of operations to ensure internal process and daily requirements are fulfilled Coordinate with third party contractors to schedule and follow up on installation and preventive maintenance programs Ensure all work assignments are carried out with the highest level of quality and safety precautions Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities Other duties as assigned by supervision Role-Specific Technical Knowledge & Skills: Installation, programming, troubleshooting and repair of automation equipment ◦PLCs, HMIs ◦Ability to program, review existing programming and make changes ◾Device Types ◾Allen Bradley, TotalFlow, ROC, IDEC, SCADAPack ◦Artificial Lift Devices ◾Rod Lift POCs, ESPs, Plunger and Gas Lift Controllers ◦Sensors connected to PLCs and other controllers Installation, programming, troubleshooting and repair of communications equipment ◦Radios (Freewave, MDS) Cell Modems ABB Tropos Networking ◦IP Based network knowledge and troubleshooting; Cambium, Ubiquiti ◦Communication Protocols: TCP/IP, RS232 & RS485 Serial, Modbus Regular monitoring of SCADA systems or other control systems to determine potential problems with field instruments or hardware, troubleshooting and closing problems Ability to provide solutions to fit needs outlined by field staff, give input on new technology and be innovative around automation and monitoring requests Coordination with Vendors ◦Maintenance Activities and New Projects ◦Quoting new/repair jobs, Cost Understanding and Containment Documentation of control processes, programming logic and system configuration Ability to read and use P&ID, as built, sketches, specs and designs to evaluate and complete work requests Coordinate and perform Preventative Maintenance activities related to responsible equipment Represent automation team in local meetings and activities Be available off hours for urgent troubleshooting and outage response Maintain and increase the cleanliness of facility and field locations Work safely and promote safe work practices by all staff on site Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required. Associates or Bachelor s degree in related field preferred.
